The reasons for anxiety can be different: stress at work, love experiences, family troubles. There are many simple and affordable ways to deal with it.
A cup of chamomile tea will help you calm down and relieve stress. The plant called Melissa or Lemon balm has long been known to reduce the severity of anxiety and stress and help to fall asleep. Green tea that contains the amino acid L-theanine also helps to relieve anxiety by restraining an increase in heart rate and blood pressure. Kava kava has been used as a sedative in the South Pacific. Now, it is widespread in Europe and the US as a treatment of mild stress and anxiety.
Physical activity stimulates not only muscles, but also brain function, and helps to cope with depression and stress. Just 30 minutes of physical activity a day can help reduce feelings of anxiety. It can be jogging, bicycle riding, or even climbing stairs. Walking in nature and meditation can also help deal with stress and anxiety.
Yoga and breathing techniques
Yoga, largely due to its breathing techniques, is considered an effective way to relieve anxiety. The reason is that you can’t breathe deeply and worry at the same time. The classical breathing technique “4-7-8” is performed as follows: start with a deep exhalation through the mouth, then calmly inhale through your nose for 4 counts and hold your breath, counting to 7. After that, you need to exhale through your mouth for 8 counts. It is recommended to repeat it at least 2 times a day.
Omega 3 foods and supplements
Including these supplements in your diet will help you cope with a troubled or engrossed state. Healthy omega-3 fatty acids can also be obtained from the seafoods, such as salmon and other fish, nuts, and plant oils.
The antidepressants most widely prescribed for anxiety are Prozac, Zoloft, and others. Do not forget to consult with a doctor first, if you have a medical condition. All of the above tips often involve getting your mind away from the source of stress. Exercise, spend time with family and friends, caress your pet and try to laugh more often— that will improve your life balance as well. You can get more information on the topic here.
