Cristóbal Balenciaga, a famous couturier, founded one of the most storied and powerful houses in fashion history in 1917. A move to Paris in 1937 propelled Balenciaga into the global arena, where he debuted hundreds of new iconic sculptural shapes from cocoon coats to tunic dresses before leaving the service in 1968 closing the house’s doors for years.
Demna Gvasalia, the current creative director, is globally recognized for restoring the house to its glorious past. Gvasalia creates extremely desirable pieces that are inspired by both the Balenciaga archives and modern streetwear elegance.
Balenciaga‘s seasonal footwear lineup has been kickstarted with the introduction of a new silhouette, the Drive Sneakers. The new model is composed of numerous layers that highlight textural contrast.
The shoe has the word “Drive” stamped on the top, a silverish tongue, and round laces. Harmoniously intersecting monochromatic details and another set of geometric panels that curve towards the forefoot make it unique and special. To complete the shoe’s stylish appearance, all of these details are placed on top of a super-thin black sole. The sneakers easily integrate active and modern styles to demonstrate us sport-inspired daily wear with a one-of-a-kind Balenciaga twist.
